About the Risk Science Center
What are we about?
The University of Michigan Risk Science Center is dedicated to enabling approaches to human health risks that are informed by evidence, yet are responsive to social, economic and policy needs and considerations.
What do we do?
- Research: We support and enable research into understanding and making informed and relevant decisions on human health risks. The Center focuses in particular on risks that are new, are evolving, or that have not been addressed effectively in the past. It also focuses on innovative new ways to address human health risks.
- Education and training: We equip people to develop a clearer understanding of health risk issues and options, and to make informed choices on human health risks. The Center is especially focused on helping people to address human health risks within the context of a rapidly changing technological, global and social landscape.
- Partnerships: We bring together people who are grappling with the challenges of making evidence-informed and socially relevant decisions on human health risks as they face new issues and opportunities. We are particularly focused on fostering effective partnerships between researchers, practitioners, decision-makers, the media and citizens, that support informed approaches to addressing human health risks.
